Christian Rallies Involving Lady Gaga in the Philippines (Rant)
These rallies, even if part of the freedom of expression, are not a good sign. It seems that certain sectors of Christians in this country are descending into religious intolerance and self-righteousness. There is freedom of religion in this country, and that includes the freedom to worship any god or no god at all, there is freedom of expression in this ‘marketplace of ideas’, and if one’s religious ideas are bought by the listeners, that is the listener’s lookout and choice, and there should be nothing illegal or immoral about it. Remember that Christianity has been imposed on this country by force and intimidation. Let us not make the same mistake of using the same tools to maintain its hold on the population.
For the record I am also a Catholic. Crucify me if you want. Otherwise, carry on.
